Inter Miami CF Secures New Defender Ahead of Playoffs
Inter Miami announced on Wednesday that former World Cup‑winning striker Luis Suárez will remain with the club for the 2026 season. The announcement follows the conclusion of his previous contract, extending his stay at the team.
Suárez, a Uruguayan forward born in 1988, will be 39 during that season, having turned 39 in January. He joined the club in 2023 and has since become a key figure in their squad.
The club, the reigning MLS champions, confirmed Suárez’s contract through 2026. Inter Miami said the extension supports the club’s competitive ambitions for the forthcoming season.
Suárez will continue to play alongside Lionel Messi, the team’s captain, in the upcoming campaign. Messi, who joined Inter Miami earlier this year, will partner with Suárez in the forward line.
The signing is effective immediately and is part of Inter Miami’s strategy to maintain a strong attacking lineup for the upcoming season. The contract is scheduled to run through the end of the 2026 season, keeping both players on the roster.
