Broward educator faces allegations of inappropriate conduct with student

A 63‑year‑old reading teacher at Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale was arrested on Thursday and booked into Broward County Main Jail. Police say the arrest followed an investigation into alleged misconduct involving a 16‑year‑old student that began in October 2025. Records indicate the teacher attempted to initiate an inappropriate relationship with the student, including sending notes, making remarks, and engaging in physical contact that investigators described as a forced hug and a brief grabbing of the student’s breast. The incident was reported after the teacher was taken into custody at a Broward County Public Schools Administration office.

The teacher appeared before a judge Friday morning. A bond of $35,000 was set, and the judge prohibited the teacher from contacting the victim, any minors, or any schools. The name of the student was not released, and the teacher has no prior arrest record.

Broward County Public Schools confirmed the teacher’s position and stated he has worked at the high school since 2004. The district placed him on administrative reassignment on May 1, 2026, pending the outcome of the investigation. Officials said further disciplinary action would follow if the case advances.

Students at Dillard High School expressed shock at the allegations. The school district reaffirmed its commitment to student safety and its cooperation with law enforcement.

The teacher was released from jail after posting the bond. No additional statements have been released.
