Man previously charged for harassing North Miami salon owner back behind bars for similar crime

North Miami salon owner sends harassing man back to prison after prior charge.

In North Miami, a 51‑year‑old man was arrested on Wednesday after an incident involving a local hair salon. The suspect is Maxime Nelson. He was first booked in February after a shovel was used to break a salon sign and damage security cameras on Northeast Sixth Avenue. Surveillance footage recorded the earlier incident, and Nelson had taken the shovel to the owner’s vehicle afterwards.

On Wednesday afternoon, the salon owner reported that Nelson passed the shop and made an offensive gesture. She warned him to leave the area or she would contact law enforcement. Nelson responded by pulling an axe, pointing it at the owner, and threatening violence. The owner called police, and officers found Nelson about a block away holding a hatchet.

Nelson was taken to the Turner‑Guilford‑Knight Correctional Center on Thursday. He remains out on felony bond pending further proceedings. No injuries were reported during the latest confrontation.
