Lauderhill Resident Arrested After High‑Cost Vehicle Heist in Miami Beach

A 20‑year‑old man from Lauderhill was arrested on Tuesday for stealing a 2025 green Land Rover from a Miami Beach residence. The theft took place at the owners’ home on the 800 block of W. Dilido Drive on Sept. 16, with surveillance showing the suspects entering a white SUV, breaching a closed electric security gate, and jumping onto the driveway. One suspect exited the SUV, searched the Land Rover for a few minutes, then reentered the vehicle and drove away. The white SUV left the scene with the stolen SUV.

Within two hours, police discovered the Land Rover on the 1900 block of NW Fifth Place. Further video indicated the same individuals were examining the vehicle, presumably looking for a tracking device. Officers recovered the SUV and found fingerprints of the 20‑year‑old resident, Widlin Deshommes, on both sides of the vehicle. Connections to the suspect were confirmed by witnesses and surveillance.

Deshommes was taken into custody at the Broward Sheriff’s Office in Fort Lauderdale and later extradited to Miami‑Dade County. He faces first‑degree grand theft and first‑degree burglary charges, including burglary of an occupied structure while masked. He is currently held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with a $30,000 bond.
