Bulgaria Secures Eurovision Victory Using Dara’s Bangaranga

Bulgaria won the Eurovision Song Contest held on 16 May 2026 in Vienna’s Wiener Stadthalle, the first time the country has taken the title. The winning act was Dara, performing “Bangaranga,” a dance‑pop track that received strong applause from the arena audience.

The final featured 25 entries, including Norway, Greece, and the host nation Austria. Israel finished second with Noam Bettan’s “Michelle,” a multilingual ballad performed in Hebrew, French and English. Despite the contest’s “United by Music” motto, five broadcasters – Ireland, Slovenia, Spain, the Netherlands and Iceland – withdrew because of concerns over Israel’s participation amid the Gaza conflict.

Organizers noted that the Israeli broadcaster KAN was operating independently from the government, and officials said they would monitor voting to protect the contest’s integrity. Statements from the Eurovision executive expressed respect for the boycotting nations while affirming that the event would continue to welcome participants from all countries.
