Police Report: Pregnant Neighbor Targeted with Pepper Spray in Little Havana

In a dispute over porch cleaning at 834 NW Fourth Street in Miami’s Little Havana, a 27‑year‑old resident sprayed a 39‑week‑pregnant neighbor with a hose during a Thursday evening argument. The pregnant woman requested the cleaner to stop, citing a fear of slipping.

When the cleaner persisted, the two women quarrelled. The cleaner then used a pink pepper‑spray can taken from a fanny pack, spraying both women’s faces and pushing the pregnant victim. She subsequently followed them into the apartment, where she sprayed two additional occupants.

Police arrived to find the pregnant woman crying and with redness on her face. Medical personnel treated all victims at the scene.

The cleaner, identified as Shelly Munoz Andino, claimed the pepper spray was used in self‑defence because an assailant had a broom. Authorities arrested her on aggravated battery against a pregnant person, a second‑degree felony, and three misdemeanor battery counts.

As of the latest update, Munoz Andino is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $10,500 bond.
