Conan O’Brien to return as Oscars host in 2027 – NBC 6 South Florida

Conan O’Brien will host the 2027 Oscars ceremony.

Conan O‑Brien has been confirmed as the host of the 99th Academy Awards, scheduled for March 14 2027 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The appointment follows his successful stints as host in the two preceding ceremonies, which received positive reviews from critics and audiences.

Executive producers Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan will return for the 2027 event. Film Academy officials Bill Kramer and Lynette Howell Taylor praised the team, noting their consistent ability to produce engaging and heartfelt broadcasts.

The 2026 Oscars saw a rise in social media engagement by more than 42 percent and a peak rating of 19.7 million viewers during O‑Brien’s first year as host. The show experienced a slight dip in overall viewership this year, though engagement remained strong.

Hollywood executives expressed confidence in O‑Brien’s comedic style. Disney Television Group president Craig Erwich highlighted the host’s unique voice as a key factor in elevating the ceremony’s entertainment value.

The 99th ceremony will be the second-to-last held at the Dolby Theatre and the final broadcast on television before the awards move to YouTube in 2029 for the 101st ceremony.
