Britney Spears, 44, was arrested on March 4 in Westlake Village, California, after a California Highway Patrol officer pulled her BMW 430i from the 101 Freeway. The stop followed a 911 call reporting erratic driving in the Newbury Park area. Spears was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was released from custody shortly thereafter.
The arrest stems from a misdemeanor DUI charge classified under California’s “wet reckless” law. Ventura County prosecutors outlined that a plea to this charge could result in 12 months of probation, credit for time held, completion of a DUI class, and payment of state fines.
