Man charged with 2019 murder in Northwest Miami‑Dade, authorities confirm.

A 36‑year‑old man has been remanded to the Metrowest Detention Center in Miami‑Dade County after being identified as the shooter in a fatal incident that occurred on October 27, 2019.

The shooting took place around 8:10 p.m. near the intersection of Northwest 76th Street and 17th Avenue in the Gladeview area. A cyclist was traveling in the roadway when an altercation with the suspect, Marshaun Altarol West Jr., escalated.

Witnesses and surveillance footage recorded West seizing a weapon from another individual and firing multiple shots, striking the cyclist. He fled before emergency responders arrived.

Medics transported the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where the cyclist was pronounced dead upon arrival. The suspect faces second‑degree murder with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon charges and remains in custody without bond.

No motive has been publicly disclosed, and authorities have not released further investigative details at this time.
