Suspect, victim both stabbed during altercation in Miami

Miami suspect and victim both wounded during confrontation stabbed in town.

Police arrested a 29‑year‑old Miami resident on an attempted murder charge after a double stabbing incident early Sunday. The first call reached officers at an apartment on NW 57th Avenue around 4:20 a.m. The dispatcher reported a person sharpening a knife before entering an apartment where occupants were arguing and were reportedly naked. An officer later checked the apartment, and the occupants denied any trouble.

Within an hour, a second call stated that two individuals were fighting and one had sustained cuts. A nearby gas station employee reported a naked, blood‑streaked man with a knife at GX Gas Station on W. Flagler Street. Responding officers found a chest‑injured victim and transported him to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.

Investigators learned the victim had known the suspect, Frank Zaldivar‑Santiesteba, for several days and that the suspect entered his apartment with a knife, allegedly claiming “God told me to come and stab you.” The victim disarmed and stabbed the suspect, after which the suspect was found bleeding heavily on NW 42nd Avenue and Seventh Street. He was taken to the same hospital for treatment of a lacerated chest and a punctured lung.

Zaldivar‑Santiesteba was identified by fingerprints, interrogated at the hospital, and later detained without bond at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. His arrest was confirmed in a press release from the Miami Police Department.
