Woman in Miami‑Dade Accuses McDonald’s Staff of Wood‑Stick Assault Over Order Dispute

A 53‑year‑old woman in Palmetto Bay, Florida, was arrested on Monday for attacking a McDonald’s employee during a dispute over a food order. The incident occurred on December 27 at the McDonald’s on 18,295 South Dixie Highway. The suspect, Andrea Houston, reportedly became angry when the employee informed her that her order was complete and that she would pay for additional items. Houston allegedly grabbed a piece of wood from her vehicle, struck the employee through the drive‑thru window, and fled the scene.

A witness filmed the confrontation and supplied the license plate, which investigators matched to Houston. The victim identified her in a photographic lineup. Houston has prior convictions for felony battery and battery of a law enforcement or correctional officer.

She was taken into custody after a traffic stop on South Dixie Highway. During the arrest, Houston resisted by tensing her arms and moving her body. She told deputies that she is “always under the influence of narcotics” due to medications she takes.

Jail records show Houston faces charges of burglary with assault or battery and resisting a law enforcement officer without violence. She is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, with an $8,000 bond set. Houston is also on house arrest and must stay away from the victim and the McDonald’s location.
