Pompano Beach police probe shooting death of man.
On April 5, 2026, Broward County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 1600 block of North Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach after reports of a body on the roadway. Upon arrival, officers identified a man who had been shot and pronounced him deceased at the scene.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office summoned its Homicide and Crime Scene teams to collect evidence and assess the circumstances surrounding the death. Officials have not identified the victim as of yet.
The area of the highway was closed for about four hours during the night to facilitate the investigation; the road has since reopened to traffic.
Residents and others with information are asked to contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954‑493‑TIPS. Investigators are continuing their work to establish motive and any possible connections.
