Local Baker Offers $50 Cheesecake, Quickly Gains Online Buzz

On May 8, a Denver resident posted on Threads about a $50 cheesecake she ordered from a local baker that did not match her expectations. The photographer, identified as Claire, uploaded pictures that showed a cake less than an inch high and with uneven texture, a sloppy crust, poorly arranged fruit, and a gelatinous red topping. She had requested the dessert for her daughter’s birthday and had selected the baker after seeing positive reviews in a neighborhood forum.

The post was shared widely, generating more than 40,000 related posts on Threads and attracting attention on Reddit, Instagram, and TikTok. Users commented on the cake’s dimensions and quality, and some compared the item to homemade versions. The baker replied that her cheesecakes are lighter and denser than New York style and apologized, without offering a refund.

In the days that followed, the Cheesecake Factory re‑entered Threads to respond to the discussion. The chain sent Claire a $100 gift card, which she accepted and used to plan a celebration for her daughter. No refund was issued by the original baker, who declined the request.
