Dua Lipa files $15 million claim against Samsung for image use.
Dua Lipa filed a civil action in a Los Angeles federal court on Friday, alleging that Samsung Electronics used a copyrighted photo of her without permission. The lawsuit claims the South Korean company displayed the image on the front of television boxes distributed in the United States.
According to the complaint, the photo was taken backstage at the 2024 Austin City Limits festival and is owned by Lipa. She discovered Samsung’s use of the image in June 2025 and requested the company stop using it. The suit contends Samsung ignored the request and continued to employ the photo on its marketing material.
Lipa’s case asserts violations of copyright, trademark and publicity rights. She seeks a permanent injunction, $15 million in actual damages, punitive damages and legal costs.
Samsung has not yet issued a response to the allegations. The lawsuit remains pending in California federal court.
