A shooting occurred on Saturday in the southbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike near Southwest 288th Street, outside Homestead. Florida Highway Patrol officials confirmed the investigation and said the incident followed a road‑rage confrontation on the highway.

Homestead Police first responded to a call at the Waterstone Plaza parking lot on Northeast 43rd Avenue, 3000 block, where witnesses reported a shootout on the Turnpike. Police later found the victim had been grazed by a bullet.

The injured person was taken immediately to a local hospital by Miami‑Dade Fire Rescue for treatment. No other casualties were reported.

The Florida Highway Patrol has assumed control of the investigation. No further details, such as motives or suspect information, have been released at this time.
