Matt Damon Returns to Host Saturday Night Live for Third Time
Matt Damon will host Saturday Night Live on May 9 2024, his third appearance in the long‑running series. The Boston‑born actor will be joined by musical guest Noah Kahan, who is promoting his latest album. He works alongside a lineup that has featured Olivia Rodrigo and Will Ferrell earlier in the season.
The episode is part of a three‑show finish to the show’s 51st season, scheduled to run through mid‑May. Damon’s most recent stint was in 2018, where he performed in a “Best Christmas Ever” sketch after starring in the film. He returned to the studio in 2024 for a brief cameo in a Kristen Wiig monologue.
During a preview with presenters Sarah Sherman and Jeremy Culhane, Damon discussed his ongoing preparation for the upcoming SNL episode, focusing on comedy writing techniques. The actor is also preparing for a role as Odysseus in Christopher Nolan’s film adaptation of “The Odyssey,” set for release July 17.
Kahan, a Grammy‑nominated singer from Vermont and Red Sox fan, has appeared twice as an SNL musical guest and will use the show to promote his new album, “The Great Divide.”
