Man Stabs Bus Stop Victim After Inappropriate Physical Contact
A man was arrested in northwest Miami‑Dade after a stabbing at a bus stop on Thursday afternoon. Miami‑Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies responded at about 12:35 p.m. near the corner of Northwest 79th Street and 12th Avenue in Gladeview. An unarmed victim was found with multiple stab wounds to his back and was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he was treated in critical condition.
Investigators say the victim reported that the suspect, Xavier Alexander Johnson, 39, had touched him inappropriately before pulling a knife and chasing him across the street. Surveillance footage captured the suspect making stabbing motions toward the victim’s back.
Johnson fled on foot when deputies approached but was later apprehended near the 8000 block of Northwest 11th Avenue by detectives and a school board officer. He was taken to the Miami‑Dade Pre‑Trial Detention Center without bond.
Two knives were recovered where Johnson was found, and the suspect is charged with attempted second‑degree murder with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and resisting an officer without violence. He has entered a confession that is currently under review.
