Student arrested after bringing BB gun to Lauderhill school

Student arrested for carrying BB gun into Lauderhill school.

A 15‑year‑old student was arrested Monday after authorities discovered a BB gun in his backpack on the campus of Parkway Middle School in Lauderhill, Fla. Police responded to a 7:30 a.m. call from a school resource officer after a behavioral technician reported a potential weapon near a boarding bus.

The student was seen running across school grounds when he entered the building and was detained by the school officer. A handgun‑style BB gun was recovered from his backpack. He faces charges of possession of a weapon on school premises and possession of a BB gun by a minor aged under 16.

The incident followed a tip from a student and a parent, prompting the school to enter lockdown and notify security personnel. The lockdown was lifted after police resolved the situation, and normal school operations resumed.

Broward County Public Schools confirmed that the student will receive disciplinary action per the school’s Code Book for Student Conduct. No injuries were reported, and authorities stated there is no ongoing threat to the school community.
