Individual Charged With Pilfering Baggage at Miami International Airport
In Miami Gardens, a 39‑year‑old man named Michael Tilley was taken into custody by the Miami‑Dade Sheriff’s Office on Friday. Tilley is accused of stealing two suitcases from an American Airlines baggage carousel at Miami International Airport on April 18. Video footage from the airport shows Tilley and a female accomplice taking the luggage, exiting the terminal, and leaving the area in a vehicle. Security records confirm the theft occurred on the stated date.
Two days after the crime, Tilley pawned the contents of the stolen suitcases, including two pairs of shoes, on April 20. The pawn shop records corroborate his ownership of the items. Tilley is also a felon on probation, having been convicted of robbery in 2023 and sentenced to five years of supervised release that will expire on October 28, 2028.
Miami‑Dade prosecutors filed a new grand theft indictment against Tilley on Saturday. He appeared in bond court, was ordered to stay away from the airport, and was released on a $2,500 bond. The case is proceeding under the state’s criminal code.
