Gunfire Hurts Multiple Stores in Margate Shopping Center

A shooting occurred Saturday night at a shopping plaza on State Road 7 in Margate, Florida. Police say a fight erupted in the 300 block of the road, during which a gun was fired and shots were released into the surrounding storefronts. Several businesses, including a barbershop, suffered shattering glass and bullet holes in building walls.

The incident took place on May 9, 2026, and no injuries were reported. Authorities have secured the site and are conducting an investigation. Local law enforcement has asked anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and is searching for the assailants.

Cleanup crews began clearing broken glass and debris on Sunday morning, and many affected shops, such as Dollar General, were boarded up for safety. The plaza remains partially open, with most businesses reopening by the following Sunday.

Police have stated that the shooting did not result in any casualties, and the investigation is ongoing. Police are encouraging witnesses or anyone with details to contact the Margate Police Department.
