Deliberations begin for pair charged with murdering Coral Springs firefighter

Two men face trial after killing Coral Springs firefighter.

Two men are currently under consideration for life sentences in connection with the 2019 killing of a Coral Springs firefighter. The defendants, Torrey Holston, 26, and Jose Garcia Romero, 27, are charged with the murder of Christopher Randazzo, 39, who was a firefighter in Coral Springs. The alleged crime took place in Lauderdale‑by‑the‑Sea when Randazzo was robbed of his phone, $55, and sneakers before he was shot in the head.

During the ongoing trial, an eyewitness identified Holston as the shooter who fired the fatal shot when Randazzo was down. Neither defendant has taken the stand for their own defense.

Prosecutors closed the case on Thursday morning and emphasized the robbery and shooting details, while defense attorneys urged the jury to focus on the absence of evidence supporting guilt. The prosecution is not seeking the death penalty; a conviction would result in mandatory life imprisonment for both men.

The case remains pending, and outcomes will be determined by the jury’s deliberations.
