How King Charles III breaks tradition with 2025 Christmas speech – NBC 6 South Florida

King Charles III gives first‑ever Christmas speech in 2025.

King Charles III, 77, scheduled his annual Christmas broadcast for December 25 and announced that the address would be filmed at the Lady Chapel of Westminster Abbey on December 11.

The choice marks the first time the speech has been recorded there and the second time it has been filmed outside a royal residence since 2006. In 2024, the address was broadcast from Fitzrovia Chapel in London’s Pearson Square.

The broadcast will be transmitted to the nation on Christmas Day according to the royal schedule.

In a separate development, the monarch has taken on the unofficial title of “hardest‑working royal,” surpassing Princess Anne. Court Circular records show Charles carried out 532 engagements in the past year, a full 50 more than Anne.

These official duties come amid ongoing cancer treatment, first disclosed by Buckingham Palace in February 2024. The King has announced that his treatment regimen will be scaled back in 2026, citing early detection and effective intervention.

The Crown’s communications office confirmed all details in the latest court circular and official statements.
