Russell Brand Charged with New Sexual Assault Claims
British authorities extended the criminal case against comedian Russell Brand, alleging one count of rape and one count of sexual assault involving two additional women. The Crown Prosecution Service said the alleged acts occurred in 2009 and are separate from earlier accusations. Brand is 50 years old.
In April, Brand faced charges in four separate complaints, including two counts of rape, two of sexual assault, and one of indecent assault. Investigators said the incidents spanned from 1999 to 2005, with one taking place in Bournemouth and the other three in London. The comedian entered a plea of not guilty.
Upcoming court dates include a hearing on January 20 related to the new charges. A trial is scheduled for June of next year and is projected to last between four and five weeks. The case is ongoing.
Brand posted a video on X on Tuesday, stating he wants the public to understand the facts of his situation and seeks healing and truth for those impacted. No formal statements were released by his legal team in response to media inquiries.
