Holiday Park Announces $5.5 Million Garage Construction

Fort Lauderdale is addressing rough parking conditions at Holiday Park. The city plans to construct a multi‑story parking structure, with a 30‑year lease that will eventually transfer ownership to the municipality.

Three unsolicited proposals were presented for a 1,000‑space garage, a 300‑space surface lot, and a new fire station. Estimated costs ranged from $38 million to $49 million, depending on the developer selected.

Commissioners debated the figures during a City Hall meeting. Because of changing numbers, the board decided to postpone the final vote. A decision will be made at the next public session on January 6.

The council also discussed whether to introduce parking charges at the new facility. Current programs at The Parker include event‑based fees, but a fee for general parking remains undecided. Policy decisions will be revisited after the January vote.

If approved, the garage is slated to open in early 2028. Holiday Park will also house a YMCA opening in 2027, a new ice‑rinks complex, and additional recreational amenities. The project aims to support growing visitor numbers to the park’s 93‑acre campus.
