The world premiere of Disney’s live‑action adaptation of Moana took place in Los Angeles on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
Actor Dwayne Johnson appeared on the red carpet with his mother, his wife Lauren Hashian, and all three of his daughters. Simone, 24, attended with her girlfriend, while younger daughters Jasmine, 10, and Tiana, 8, also joined the family. Jasmine and Tiana had previously attended the Moana 2 premiere in Hawaii in November 2024 and voiced characters in the sequel.
Johnson requested a brief cameo featuring his family, which the film’s director Thomas Kail approved.
The cameo provides a short onscreen moment where the three generations appear together. During the event, Johnson and co‑star Catherine Laga’aia performed a Polynesian‑inspired dance on the Hollywood Bowl stage. The performance highlighted the film’s cultural influences and the Maui characteracles’ Polynesian roots.
Moana will open nationwide on July 10, featuring Catherine Laga’aia and Dwayne Johnson as Maui. At a press conference in Rio de Janeiro on July 2, Johnson announcedんな that a third animated Moana film is currently in development.
