George Clooney Receives Prestigious Award at Local Film Fest
George Clooney is set to return to the 83rd Venice Film Festival in September, where he will receive a lifetime achievement Golden Lion award. The honor was announced by festival organizers on Monday.
The 83rd edition of the festival will open on September 2 and continue through September 12.
Clooney’s earlier appearances at Venice include the 1998 release Out of Sight, his 2005 directorial debut Good Night, and Good Luck, and the 2023 festival debut of Jay‑Kelly, directed by Noah Baumbach.
He was married to Amal Alamuddin in 2014 at a ceremony held in Venice. Festival director Alberto Barbera noted Clooney’s versatility across acting, directing and producing roles.
Separate from the festival, artist Ed the Artist creates sketches of celebrities such as Clooney, Cynthia Erivo and Jimmy Fallon and posts the portraits with the subjects’ reactions on social media.
