Actor Faizon Love Detained by Florida Police During Florida Trip
Actor Faizon Love, 58, was taken into custody in Tampa, Florida, on a second‑month fugitive warrant over contempt of court charges tied to a 2019 paternity case. The arrest occurred near the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa, according to Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office records. A judge issued the warrant last month, but the specific reasons remain sealed.
Love is also facing a felony assault proceeding in San Diego. Prosecutors allege he ripped a credit‑card reader from its mount, hurled it at a hotel clerk in Mission Valley in August 2024, striking the woman’s head. He has pleaded not guilty, with trial scheduled for August; a judge is set to consider a motion for a pre‑trial mental‑health diversion program that could dismiss the charges if completed.
In 2017, Love pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor assault on a valet at John Glenn Columbus International Airport, receiving a $500 fine and a 180‑day suspended sentence. A civil suit forced him to pay the victim $40,000 and later $8,679.50 in attorney fees. Earlier, in 2009, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department recorded an alleged attack by Love at a West Hollywood hotel.
