NBC 6 South Florida announces winners in local talent competition
The 80th Tony Awards will take place on Sunday, June 8, 2026, at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. The event will be broadcast live on CBS and available to Paramount+ subscribers, running from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern Time. Twenty‑four Broadway productions are competing for prizes across 26 categories, with winners determining each show’s future viability.
Pink, the winner of numerous Grammy Awards, will host the ceremony. She has announced a large opening number written by Benj Pasek, Justin Paul and Mark Sonnenblick that will feature 170 performers. Production elements such as costume changes and wire work will showcase her experience with acrobatic stage work.
Performances will highlight nominees for Best New Musical and Best Musical Revival, including “The Lost Boys,” “Schmigadoon!,” “Titanique,” “Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York),” “Cats: The Jellicle Ball,” “Ragtime,” and “The Rocky Horror Show.” Original cast members from “The Book of Mormon” will appear, and a tribute to “Rent” will be presented in the In Memoriam segment.
Awards races will feature “Giant” against “Liberation” for Best Play, while “Death of a Salesman” competes in the Best Play Revival category. The revival field also includes “Oedipus” led by Marc Strong and “Every Brilliant Thing” starring Daniel Radcliffe.
Notable milestones include June Squibb becoming the oldest actor nominated for a Tony at 96, and Nathan Lane seeking a record‑tying fourth Tony for his work in “Death of a Salesman.” The ceremony will celebrate these achievements alongside the artistic breadth of this Broadway season.
