Person Plead Guilty for Plot to Attack Taylor Swift Concert in Austria

A court in Wiener Neustadt sentenced a 21‑year‑old Austrian national to prison on Thursday for plotting to attack a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna. The defendant, identified only as Beran A. under privacy rules, pleaded guilty to charges related to the concert plan. Prosecutors said he intended to target people outside Ernst Happel Stadium with knives or homemade explosives. The concert, part of the Eras Tour, was disrupted before the attack could occur, and Austrian authorities cancelled the singer’s August 2024 shows.

During the trial, Beran A. admitted his involvement with the plot. He also reportedly contacted members of the Islamic State, discussing weapon purchases, bomb construction, and swearing allegiance to the group. The court found him guilty of contributing to attempted murder tied to an attack in Mecca, where another suspect, Hasan E., had stabbed a security officer and wounded additional staff members.

Beran A. denied responsibility for the broader ISIS‑linked attacks planned by accomplices Arda K. and Hasan E. in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the UAE. Only Beran A. faced charges linked to the Vienna concert plot. The ruling was delivered after the defendant expressed remorse in court.
