Britney Spears Hosts Officers With Lasagna During DUI Arrest
Dashcam footage released by California Highway Patrol shows traffic officers pulling over pop star Britney Spears on the 101 Freeway near the Los Angeles–Ventura county line on Wednesday night. The 44‑year‑old was cited for erratic driving after a 911 call reported her swerving between lanes.
When police approached, Spears apologized and explained she had been on her phone. Officers later detected an odor of alcohol and conducted a sobriety test, capturing the singer pleading with officers and offering a dinner invitation. A wine glass and an unprescribed bottle of Adderall were recovered from the vehicle.
Spears was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. She pleaded guilty to California’s “wet reckless” law, a charge applicable to first‑time offenders with low blood‑alcohol levels and no crash. She was sentenced to 12 months of probation, fines, and a DUI education program, with one day credit for time served.
Representatives described the incident as “completely inexcusable” and stated Spears hopes the case will lead to the support she needs. Spears had previously entered a treatment facility in April after her arrest and had sold her music catalog earlier this year.
