Hollywood Senior Confesses Flamboyant Public Display, Neighbor Annoyance Surges【】
A 79‑year‑old resident of a Hollywood, Fla., apartment complex was taken into custody on Wednesday on five indecent exposure charges. Police said the suspect, Tyrone James Causey, repeatedly walked the common areas and made lewd gestures, including thrusting his genitals at a doorbell camera.
Neighbors had reported the behavior to authorities, including a call made the day before. When police approached Causey, they described him as wearing minimal clothing and claiming he was exercising a right to walk naked under a Florida statute. Officers explained that public indecent exposure is illegal.
Investigators confirmed that the suspect was seen exposing himself by several neighbors. The five reports, combined with his prior 1987 arrest and a police citation from the earlier call, led to the charges filed. Initial filings described the offense as a felony for a second or subsequent incident.
A bail hearing found only probable cause for misdemeanor indictments. Causey was no longer listed in the Broward County jail roster as of the following Friday afternoon.
