Drake drops three surprise albums after Kendrick Lamar beef – NBC 6 South Florida

Drake releases three unexpected albums amid falling out with Kendrick Lamar

Drake released his ninth studio album, Iceman, on Friday, 20 May 2026, along with two surprise projects titled Habibti and Maid of Honour. The releases brought the Canadian rapper’s catalog to 43 tracks for the year. The albums follow Drake’s public feud with Kendrick Lamar that began in spring 2024, when Lamar’s single “Not Like Us” prompted a defamation lawsuit that was dismissed and is currently under appeal.

Iceman features collaborations with 21 Savage, Future and Molly Santana. Several songs, including “Make Them Cry” and “Dust,” address the rivalry with Lamar and reference other high‑profile artists. The album launch included a large ice installation at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena that fans uncovered with blowtorches and other tools.

Habibti contains 11 tracks with Sexyy Red, L O Shimmy and PARTYNEXTDOOR, while Maid of Honour has 14 songs featuring Stunna Sandy, Central Cee, Popcaan and Sexy Red. These projects represent Drake’s first studio releases since For All the Dogs in 2023.

The releases have sparked commentary from industry analysts who note the importance of reputation and commercial performance for Drake’s standing in hip‑hop. While the artist remains highly streamed globally, recent chart performance has shown a decline in high‑position singles compared to previous years.

No additional actions or investigations have been announced regarding the feud or the recent releases. All dates, locations, and collaborations are confirmed as stated in the release announcements.
