Ted Lasso star joins professional soccer club in South Florida
Cristo Fernandez, who played Dani Rojas on the Apple TV series “Ted Lasso,” has accepted a professional contract with El Paso Locomotive FC in the USL Championship. The agreement was revealed on Tuesday and is pending final approval from the league and the United Soccer Federation.
Fernandez earned the deal after a two‑month trial period, during which he appeared in a preseason match versus New Mexico United. At 15, an injury ended his youth soccer career, leading him to pursue acting before returning to the sport with his new club.
El Paso’s coach Junior González praised Fernandez as a strong addition who adds an attacking option and brings leadership to the squad.
The player expressed gratitude for the opportunity to compete at a professional level. No terms of the contract were disclosed. The signing is officially confirmed and the player is expected to begin training with the team ahead of the upcoming season.
