Pompano Beach multi-unit residence catches fire Friday.
A multi‑unit residence on the 300 block of Northwest Fifth Street in Pompano Beach caught fire early Tuesday morning, with the first report submitted around 3:30 a.m. Fire crews responded promptly, and the blaze was contained and the scene cleared by 5 a.m. Pompano Beach firefighters moved the property to a safe condition before the Broward Sheriff’s Office assumed investigative duties.
The sheriff’s investigators established a crime scene, appraising evidence and potential causes. Residents of the building, many of whom have young children, have not been allowed to return to their homes. Local authorities have not confirmed any injuries, and the exact origin of the fire remains unknown.
The American Red Cross has offered assistance to displaced residents, providing temporary shelter and support services. Law enforcement will continue to investigate to determine if any criminal activity contributed to the incident.
