Port Charlotte woman charged after striking deputy in Florida Keys

Florida woman arrested after punching police officer in the Keys.

In Big Pine Key, Florida, police arrested a 43‑year‑old woman on Saturday night after an incident at Pine Channel Nature Park. The arrest took place near 29550 Overseas Highway around 10:26 p.m., when the park was closed for the evening.

A deputy on patrol observed the suspect, Julie Graham of Port Charlotte, seated on a bench with drug paraphernalia visible. Graham declined to present ID and began to walk away. During the attempt to stop her, she struck the deputy, knocked off his glasses, and resisted while the officer tried to handcuff her.

Authorities said no serious injuries were reported. After being cleared medically, Graham was transported to jail. She faces charges including battery of a law‑enforcement officer, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence, and unlawful presence in a closed park.
