Federal authorities halt immigration pathway for migrants from two nations
The Department of Homeland Security terminated family-reunification parole programs for seven nations under the Trump administration. The policy ends categorical parole for Cuba, Haiti, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, affecting immediate family members residing in the United States.
Current participants must submit applications for permanent residence or adjust their status by December 15 to maintain legal standing. Those failing to meet this deadline will lose their status on January 14.
Employment authorization will be revoked for individuals whose parole status terminates under the new rules. The agency emphasized these changes apply solely to migrants covered by the terminated programs.
The revisions eliminate an existing pathway for qualified family migrants from the specified countries. Affected individuals face clear deadlines to secure alternative immigration status through available channels.
