Police officer impersonation leads to arrest of local woman.
A 37‑year‑old resident of Oakland Park was arrested on Saturday for allegedly impersonating a police officer. Police detained Annie Flaherty after she approached neighbors in the area, claiming she represented Miami‑Dade Police and was investigating stolen diamonds. Patrol officers reported that Flaherty wore a police badge on her hip when she knocked on two houses and identified herself as an officer.
When deputies visited Flaherty’s home to question her, she provided the badge that was identified as a Miami‑Dade Corrections Officer Super Bow LIV edition. Authorities have not determined how she obtained the badge or whether it was counterfeit.
Flaherty is a flight attendant for Spirit Airlines. She was charged with impersonating a law‑enforcement officer and taken to the North Broward Bureau detention center. As of Monday night, she remains on a $15,000 bond.
The incident is part of an ongoing effort by Broward County authorities to address unauthorized impersonation of police officers. No injuries or property damage were reported.
