Rob Reiner’s sons share their story following parents’ murder.
Rob Reiner, a 78‑year‑old actor, and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were found stabbed to death in the master bedroom of their Los Angeles home on Sunday. Police ruled the deaths a homicide. The body search was completed by the Los Angeles Police Department.
Thirty‑two‑year‑old Nick Reiner, the couple’s son, was arrested after being located in University Park shortly after 9 p.m. the same evening. He was handcuffed and taken to the LAPD station. LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell confirmed the booking.
Reiner faces two counts of first‑degree murder, with allegations of multiple murders and use of a deadly weapon. He entered no plea at Wednesday’s brief hearing. His arraignment has been postponed to January 7.
Siblings Jake and Romy Reiner released a statement expressing deep grief and thanking friends and supporters for the outpouring of kindness. They requested privacy and asked that speculation be tempered with compassion. The family also urged that their parents be remembered for the lives they lived.
Defense attorney Alan Jackson said on Wednesday that the case involves complex legal issues and pleaded for restraint and respect throughout the judicial process.
