Miami landlord confronts tenant over trash dispute using machete
A Miami landlord was taken into custody after an alleged machete attack on a tenant on Wednesday night. Police were dispatched at about 5:45 p.m. to a residence in the 1900 block of Southwest 17th Street in the Shenandoah area following a 911 call that a landlord had assaulted a tenant.
Responding officers found the tenant with bleeding wounds on his right arm and wrist. The victim reported that the landlord, Victor Rodriguez Polledo, argued with him over garbage items, then returned armed with a machete and struck the tenant’s shoulder and arm. The tenant blocked a second swing, sustaining a deep laceration to his wrist, and a struggle ensued while the victim tried to disarm the attacker. A bystander who intervened suffered a minor hand cut but declined medical care.
Rodriguez Polledo was arrested and is charged with one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He was held without bond at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Thursday. The recovered blood‑stained machete was taken as evidence. The tenant was transported to HCA Florida Mercy Hospital with minor injuries.
