Felon, former pastor Eric Readon welcomed back to Miami Gardens church following prison sentence

Eric Readon, former pastor, rejoined Miami Gardens church after serving sentence

Pastor Eric Readon of Miami Gardens was released from jail on May 12, 2026 after serving 303 days of a 364‑day sentence for elder exploitation. The charges stemmed from a case in which Readon, a former congregant of New Beginning Missionary Baptist Church, was found to have gained control of retired postal worker Edward Fuller’s home and sold it without Fuller’s knowledge.

Readon pleaded guilty in June 2025 under a plea agreement that required 15 years of probation and restitution of $180,000 to Fuller. He surrendered to the Miami‑Dade Adult Detention Center on July 15, 2025. After receiving credit for time served, the court’s release timing aligns with the sentence.

Post‑release, the church is preparing a “Readon Returns” worship service scheduled for Sunday at 8:45 a.m. The event is promoted via an online flyer that lists the church’s address at 2801 NW 170th St. No official statement indicates what role Readon will hold at the church or whether probation conditions limit his ministry activities.
