Teen charged as adult in armed robbery case in Homestead

A 16‑year‑old from Homestead, Florida, was arrested on April 1 for an armed robbery that occurred on March 2. The incident took place around 6 p.m. in the 600 block of Northwest 11th Street, where police found the victim wounded and in his underwear. The victim reported that his dirt bike had been stolen separately and that he had been approached by two acquaintances named “Luis” and “Sebastian” who offered to help locate it.

Luis Torres, who is now charged as an adult, and the other suspect drove a black sedan to the area wearing masks. Police reports indicate that after pulling into an alley, the suspect identified as Sebastian drew a firearm and struck the victim, while Torres later dragged the victim out of the vehicle and participated in a beat. Both suspects seized the victim’s belongings, including a black iPhone 12, clothing, a gold bracelet, and a gold chain, valued at approximately $1,730.

The victim supplied detectives with the suspects’ Instagram accounts. After the robbery, Torres posted a video on his own Instagram describing the event and displaying the stolen jewelry. Sebastian also posted photos and videos of the loot.

Torres was taken into custody at South Dade Senior High School, his place of attendance. He was booked into Metrowest Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in bond court Thursday. The identity and current status of the other suspect remain unknown.
