Paris Hilton endorses lawsuits against Provo Canyon School in Utah
Paris Hilton returned to Provo Canyon School in Utah on Monday, the boarding facility where she was a resident in the late 1990s. She spoke in support of two families who filed lawsuits alleging mistreatment of their children at the school. The claims include lack of medical care for a 13‑year‑old who suffered a fractured jaw and traumatic brain injury, and a 15‑year‑old who experienced severe stomach pain and later kidney failure.
The school, now under new ownership, has stated it cannot comment on matters prior to the ownership change, citing patient privacy regulations. State health officials imposed temporary restrictions on the facility in May for failing to provide immediate medical care to an injured student. The restrictions, which barred new client admissions, are scheduled to expire this Thursday.
Hilton, 45, has testified before federal and state legislatures about her experiences, contributing to legislation aimed at reforming the troubled‑teen industry. She called for the closure of Provo Canyon School and urged parents to remain cautious of marketing that promotes these institutions as safe environments.
