Trump seeks Jared Kushner’s help in complex diplomacy efforts.
Jared Kushner, the former senior adviser in President Donald Trump’s first administration, has reentered the foreign‑policy arena during the president’s second term. Acting as a special adviser for the administration, he has been working alongside Special Envoy Steve Witkoff on diplomatic initiatives that include the Russia‑Ukraine conflict and a ceasefire in the Israel‑Hamas war in Gaza.
The duo hosted Russian state negotiator Kirill Dmitriev in Miami, where they met with Turkish and Qatari officials to discuss ongoing peace talks. Their meetings follow weeks of shuttle diplomacy that saw Witkoff and Kushner meeting with President Vladimir Putin in Moscow and with Ukrainian and European diplomats in Germany. Further negotiations with Dmitriev are scheduled for Sunday, according to a White House spokesperson.
Kushner brings experience from the Abraham Accords and runs a multibillion‑dollar private equity firm in Miami. White‑House officials say he serves in a private‑citizen capacity and is not drawing a salary for his advisory role. The administration has stated his participation complies fully with the law, and he continues to provide expertise on complex diplomatic negotiations.
