New Gators coach Jon Sumrall fills out his staff at Florida – Sun Sentinel

Jon Sumrall completes coaching lineup for Florida Gators.

On December 2 2025, Florida head coach Jon Sumrall finalized his first coaching staff after hiring coordinators. He added familiar colleagues from Tulane and former Florida players to create a complete roster of assistants. The appointments were announced early that day.

Bam Hardmon, a former Florida linebacker, joins the staff as an assistant after serving as Tulane’s defensive line coach. Joe Craddock, Tulane’s former offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, will work with quarterbacks. Tulane offensive line coach Evan McKissack also joined in an undefined role.

Greg Gasparato, ex‑Tulane defensive coordinator, will coach linebackers, while Johnathan Galante, a former Marshall coach and Broyles Award nominee, will oversee special teams. Both coaches joined following Tulane’s CFP game.

Strength and conditioning coordinator Rusty Whitt, 54, has worked under Sumrall at Troy (2022‑23) and Tulane (2024‑25), contributing to a 43‑12 record and three conference titles. He replaces Tyler Miles.

The completed staff covers offense, defense, special teams, and conditioning. All hires take effect immediately and are part of Sumrall’s strategy to build a cohesive coaching unit for the next season. Florida’s athletic department issued a statement confirming the appointments.
