Miami secures CFP spot with decisive victory over opponents
Miami beat Texas A&M 10‑3 on Saturday, advancing to the CFP Final Eight. The win capped a 10‑3 season and is the program’s most decisive CFP selection in more than two decades.
The first half ended scoreless after Miami missed two wind‑hindered field goals and Texas A&M had one blocked by Rueben Bain Jr. A field goal tied the game in the second quarter at 3‑3. Mark Fletcher’s 56‑yard run and Malachi Toney’s touchdown gave Miami a 10‑3 advantage.
Miami’s defense logged seven sacks, nine tackles for loss, and three turnovers, including Bryce Fitzgerald’s interception in the end zone. The aggressive play limited Texas A&M to 10 points.
Head coach Mario Cristobal emphasized “out‑hitting” opponents. Miami now faces Ohio State in the CFP next round.
