Marlins Share New Player Moves and Upcoming Game Details

Christopher Morel agreed to a one‑year contract with the Miami Marlins on Thursday. The infielder will receive a $2 million salary for the 2026 season. The Marlins’ front office released the deal at the end of the week’s roster moves.

Morel left the Tampa Bay Rays after the 2025 season, where he appeared in 105 games. Over that span he posted a .219 batting average, scored 37 runs and recorded 16 doubles, 11 home runs and 33 runs batted in. He spent 57 of those games in left field.

Defensively, Morel maintained a .971 fielding percentage while playing outfield duties. He was credited with no errors in left field during the course of the 2025 season.

The contract is fully negotiated and has been approved by the Marlins’ general manager. The team has indicated that Morel will be part of the major‑league roster for the upcoming season. No additional options or guarantees were disclosed at this time.
