Cameron Kasky, Jewish Parkland shooting survivor, is running for Congress on platform to ‘stop funding genocide’

Parkland shooting survivor Cameron Kasky seeks congressional seat.

Cameron Kasky, 25‑year‑old Jewish activist and Parkland shooting survivor, announced his candidacy for New York’s 12th Congressional District on November 18. Long‑time representative Jerry Nadler will not seek reelection, opening the seat. Kasky said his platform will address social and foreign‑policy issues.

His agenda includes Medicare for all, ending U.S. military aid he views as supporting genocide in Gaza, and abolishing ICE. Kasky supported Democrat Zohran Mamdani in the mayoral race and has criticized Democrats who disagree with his anti‑Israel stance.

Jack Schlossberg, a Kennedy grandson who is also Jewish, announced a run for the same seat. Both men have appeared together on Kasky’s “For You Podcast.”

Kasky’s activism began after the 2018 Parkland shooting; he helped launch the #NeverAgain movement that supported the 2022 Safer Communities Act. He now lives in the district and studied at Columbia University before dropping out.

The campaign is in its early stages; Kasky presents himself as a progressive challenger to Trump and U.S. aid to Israel. The district, which includes Manhattan’s Upper West, East Side, and Midtown, has historically leaned Democratic.
