Alec Baldwin addresses injuries after “Rust” incident, shares recovery updates
Alec Baldwin, 67, has said he continues to suffer from the physical and mental effects of the fatal shooting that occurred on the set of the film Rust.
The incident happened on October 21, 2021, when cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, was killed during a rehearsal in New Mexico. The event triggered a criminal investigation that led to Baldwin’s indictment for involuntary manslaughter.
In July 2024 the charges were dismissed with prejudice. A month later, Baldwin filed a civil lawsuit in January 2025 claiming malicious prosecution and civil‑rights violations stemming from the prosecution.
He has discussed symptoms such as post‑traumatic stress disorder, extreme fatigue, and reduced mobility in several media appearances, noting that the incident has had a lasting impact on his health and career.
Baldwin’s wife, Hilaria (41), and their seven children, along with his daughter Ireland (30) from a previous marriage, have publicly stated that family support has been essential to his recovery. Hilaria has also addressed criticism over her accent and personal losses in the reality series The Baldwins.
